On 15 June, a group of VDHS members enjoyed an exclusive visit to Brackenwood, a private garden in Holt, Wimborne which opens for charity during the year.

Despite a dubious forecast, the members enjoyed exploring the gardens with mature perennial borders around a large upper lawn, then following winding pathways through mature trees, and down steps through a fernery to the lakes.

Large, brightly-coloured koi carp and pale yellow waterlilies provided interest on the lower lake, and wild flowers bordered the hedgerow.  

​

After exploring, the members enjoyed a cream tea by the house.  Unfortunately the brollies went up for a brief shower, but this didn't dampen the spirits.

A lovely afternoon out at a local garden - and we raised over £400 for the Poole Cancer unit!
